Beirut overview

Beirut Travel Guide
Even though Beirut has not lived up to its status as the "Paris of the East," this interesting and diverse city still offers a unique travel opportunity for the more adventurous. Because of the many wars, including the most recent one in 2006, Beirut often looks more like a pile of rubble than Paris, but a recent period of peace has led to tourism enjoying a bit of a renaissance in Beirut. The destroyed capital has mostly been rebuilt and is once again becoming popular among Europeans and wealthy Arabs due to the large amounts of upscale shopping, as well as the diverse restaurants and historical sites. When not destroyed, Beirut is a beautiful and modern city with architecture that is unique in the region. The city also has a bustling nightlife where you will find trendy Europeans and rich Arab guys dancing the night away.
