Al Ain overview

Al Ain Travel Guide
It is not particularly difficult to see why Al Ain is known as the Garden City in the Desert. Meaning ‘spring’ in Arabic Al Ain is a two hour drive from Abu Dhabi through magnificent desert which will cause any traveller to appreciate the lushness of Al Ain on arrival. The discovery of oil as with most other parts of the UAE has spurred on development. In Al Ain thankfully this has been geared to reclaiming desert and transforming it into a land of trees and date palms. The city’s souks and museums are well worth exploring as is a trip up the limestone monolith of Jebel Hafeet which provides stunning views across the border into Oman. From here visitors can note just how much the discovery of oil has changed the face of the UAE compared its relatively cash strapped neighbour.
